Letter from the CEO: Leading with Love, History, and Identity

"February reminds us of the power of love—not just romantic, but the love we hold for our purpose, our history, and the identities that shape us."

Dear Succeeders,

February has always been a month of reflection for me. Not just a celebration of love in the usual sense, but a reminder of the love we hold for our purpose, for the journeys that shaped us, and for the people we are becoming.

Looking back, my own journey has been anything but linear. There were moments when doubt whispered that my path was too unconventional, too risky. There were times when external expectations tried to define me, and moments when I had to choose between comfort and courage. I learned quickly that leadership isn’t about avoiding fear…it’s about moving forward despite it.

Love, in leadership, looks like this.

It’s the love for yourself, the fierce commitment to honor your calling even when the path is uncertain.

It’s the love for your work that keeps you awake before dawn, refining ideas that will impact others. It’s the love for your team that compels you to see them not just as colleagues, but as people with dreams, struggles, and potential. And it’s the love for yourself, the fierce commitment to honor your calling even when the path is uncertain. That love has carried me through moments when self-doubt threatened to derail my vision.

It’s the love I pour into the work I do, the care I take in guiding others, and the intentionality I bring to creating spaces where people can thrive. It’s the understanding that impact is strongest when it’s rooted in empathy, integrity, and connection. Love for what you do fuels resilience, and it fuels legacy.

History gives context to courage.

My history, my heritage, my journey: all of it guides my decisions and strengthens my purpose.

When I reflect on courage, I think of my grandparents. They grew up in environments marked by oppression and limited opportunity, yet they carried an unbreakable resolve to build a life of dignity, possibility, and care. Their resilience wasn’t loud or performative; it was in the quiet decisions to keep moving forward, to create a home, to nurture others, even when their own dreams required sacrifice.

The love they shared wasn’t just for each other—it extended outward, to family, friends, and community. They showed me that true leadership begins with love and service, and that even in the face of immense challenge, it’s possible to rise with grace. I also recognize the dreams they set aside so that I could dream bigger, reach farther, and pursue opportunities they never had. Their story is my compass. It reminds me that courage isn’t only about personal achievement, it’s about carrying forward the legacy of those who came before us, honoring their sacrifices by stepping boldly into our own paths.

Identity is our north star.

“…lean into love, honor your history, and lead from your identity.”

For years, I wrestled with fitting into expectations that weren’t mine, with defining success on someone else’s terms. Embracing my identity—the totality of my experiences, values, and voice—was revolutionary. It allowed me to lead authentically, to say yes to opportunities aligned with my vision, and no to those that weren’t. Leadership begins from this place of self-awareness. Because when we fully embrace who we are, we answer the question: If not us, then who?

This February, I want to leave you with this challenge: lean into love, honor your history, and lead from your identity. These are not just abstract concepts—they are the tools that allow us to navigate uncertainty, inspire others, and leave a legacy that matters.

Your dream is waiting. Your path is yours to carve. Keep moving forward, even when the road is hard, because the world needs leaders like you to rise.
